Race requirement when making complaint.

Recently, I've visited DBKL eAduan website. I've got to say, their website is darn darn slow. So slow that I think my grandmother would have made a run on 400m and the page will still be loading the content.

Anyway, what's more baffling that RACE requirement was needed when making a complaint.

Does that help in anyway that the complaint would be addressed with lightning speed? I guess not, because, more than 6months ago, I've made a complaint report and till today, the problem still persists.

*Yawn*

What a lame agency, all show but empty substance.

Will there be recession or not?

BusinessTimes reported that U.S, Eurozone (ie Germany the biggest economy in Europe, UK and Italy are in recession. Spain is heading for one.) and HongKong is already in recession. BBC reported that Japan and Singapore economies are already in recession. ABC reported that Australia is heading for a recession. A commentary has published a report that China, Russia, India and Brazil are all heading either a downturn or a slowdown. If the countries mentioned above are not one of the largest around, I don't know what is.

Sun Microsystem said that it will cut jobs, 18% of it's workforce or 6,000 jobs. Citibank was reported that it will shed 52,000 jobs or 15% of it's workforce. I'm sure the list doesn't stop here.

Even our local Human Resource Minister has said that "there are predictions that next year we will face bigger problems." He also said that the ministry will discuss the setting up of a retrenchment fund and have asked the International Labour Organisation to do research on how to implement the fund in the Malaysian context.

One-by-one, the economic dominos are showing its effect.

Even Warren Buffet has said that US economy will be more severe that most people's expectation.

BUT BUT

Najib says that Malaysia will not experience recession, today and last month.

mmmm.... it just doesn't add up, does it?

cowboy country

When laws are applied to a selected few.

Chua Soi Lek had oral sex. Then Rais Yatim said that Anwar Ibrahim is charged with sodomy because sodomy is a crime. So is oral sex yet Chua is not charged.

Ahmad Ismail uttered something seditious. Many were upset but he was not charged. Instead the journalist that covered the moment was detained. Ahmad is now running a roadshow roaming around the country to 'explain' his side of story. Till today, Ahmand is not charged. On another hand, RPK was sent to detention camp for 2 years without trial. He was said that he published an article that could anger Muslims. Mufti of Perlis disagrees. So is Marina Mahathir.

Zaid Ibrahim, the former law minister who recently resigned said, "In terms of ISA usage, for example, the police said we detain first, then only we investigate. This is a strange principle. I don’t understand this. You cannot detain people just because you want to investigate."

How aptly. Kinda a cowboy country, don't you think so?

Budget RM20

When tabling the National Budget 2009 last Friday, PM Abdullah said: “As part of the government’s effort to further reduce the financial burden of the lower income group, households which incur monthly electricity bills of RM20 or less, will not have to pay for electricity for the period from Oct 1, 2008 to the end of 2009.”

RM20?

If you have a refrigerator running 24 hours daily at home you can forget about enjoying the RM20 electricity monthly exemption.

A Cop's Sworn Statement

In Malaysian, when a person gets arrested by the authority of law enforcers, he is not treated as a suspect BUT is passed off as a criminal, even before a court hearing begins.

Taken from Malaysia-Today's article, a cop's sworn statement of a high profile case;

“I saw the arrival of the vehicle. Dato Seri Anwar was helped out of the vehicle and was led by two police officers into the foyer. He was blindfolded. He was not handcuffed.”

“As he passed me I said something, “Treat him like a normal criminal. Why is he not handcuffed?” This statement was directed to the officers who affected the arrest.”

“The normal practice is, when a person is arrested, he would be handcuffed. It is not normal to blindfold a person who is arrested.”

“When a criminal is arrested he is handcuffed. At that time I knew that Dato Seri Anwar was arrested under Section 377 of the Penal Code which is a criminal offence.”

Welcome to Malaysia.

What logic is this fler trying to articulate?

Taken from theStar article,

Penang opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim caused an uproar in the House when he accused the Pakatan Rakyat state government of “embezzling” RM30mil.

The state says that it is trying to save money by flying economy class and implementing austerity measures but it is actually embezzling the people’s money by not collecting the illegal hawking and parking compounds issued before March 8,” said the Penaga assemblyman who twice described himself as a “good guy” in his debate on the motion of thanks on the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas’s speech.

I have a serious time trying to 'konek' the logic, and i doubt the revenue from these compounds can even get the Penang Government 14 luxurious Mercedes E200 Kompressors which the Terengganu Government just purchased at the cost of RM3.43million.

TM 1800-882-882

That's TM customer service line which I made some inquiries about their long distance RingRing card. My experiences with them was horrible. There was a lot of misinformation and the usual trait when dealing with TM was that you have to be real patience with them. Here's why:

Call-1

Me: Hello, may I ask if I can use RingRing card from Switzerland and call back to Malaysia?
TM: Hi, may I get your name please?
Me: Rajasamy
TM: Can I get your full name?
Me: ???? Rajasamy a/l Gopalingam
TM: May I help you?
(bloodyhell, ask my name but didn't introduce yourself and then he goes on asking what was my inquiry was about. wtf, i just said it out loud and he's asking me again)
Me: May I ask if I can use RingRing card from Switzerland and call back to Malaysia?
TM: Can I put you on hold?
(before I could say yes, I was put on hold)
Me: .......
(usually when you are put on hold, there's something to listen to whether they are just plain classical music, radio channels or just advertisements BUT with TM, it was all silence and I can hear my thoughts out loud)
Me: ......
(still waiting after 3minutes being put on hold)
TM: Hi Sir, sorry to keep you waiting. Yes, you can use RingRing Card to call from Switzerland to Malaysia.
Me: Can you give me the Direct Access code?
TM: Can I put you on hold?
(for the 2nd time, before I could say yes, I was put on hold again.. and there goes the silence wait again)
Me: .......
(still waiting after 3minutes being put on hold)
TM: Hi Sir, sorry to keep you waiting. The Direct Access code to call is 0088106xx.
Me: May I know which telco operator for this and how much are the calling rates?
TM: Can I put you on hold?
(again before I could say yes, I was put on hold)
Me: .......
(after waiting after 5minutes being put on hold, I decided to end the call)

Total time call? 13minutes just for 2 questions with another unanswered. Since I could not get the calling rates, I decided to call again the following day.

Call-2

Me: Hello, may I ask what are the call rates when I use RingRing card from Switzerland and call back to Malaysia?
TM: Hi, may I get your name please?
Me: Rajasamy
TM: May I help you?
(wtf, there goes again. No introduction and I have to repeat myself again)
Me: Can I get your name again?
TM: This is Ms Dana
Me: This is my second time calling, I hope you don't put me on hold for very long. May I ask what are the call rates when I use RingRing card from Switzerland and call back to Malaysia?
TM: Can I get your full name?
Me: ???? Rajasamy a/l Gopalingam
( does it matter if my name is Rajasamy or Rajasamy a/l Gopalingam?)
TM: Can I put you on hold?
(as usual, before I could say yes, I was put on hold again.. and there goes the silence wait again)
Me: ......
(still waiting after 3minutes being put on hold)
TM: Hi Sir, sorry to keep you waiting. You can't make any calls using RingRing card in Switzerland.
Me: ?????
Me: I just called yesterday, and there was a guy from your customer service said that I could. He even provided me the Direct Access code.
TM: Can I put you on hold while I check with my colleague again?
(for countless times, before I could say yes, I was put on hold again.. and there goes the silence wait again)
Me: ......
(still waiting after 2minutes being put on hold)
TM: Sorry to put you on hold. My colleague has confirmed that RingRing card service is unavailable in Switzerland.
Me: Oh well.. sigh. Thanks.
TM: Is there anything else I could help you?
Me: ...... No. Thanks.
TM: Bye.
Me: Bye.

This time the call duration was lesser, approx 8minutes. Still there are a lot of improvements needed. Honestly, TM is trying toooooo hard to be professional. In the end, they're akin to leopards can never change its spots. Old habits die hard. Or maybe, they've not heard of ultilizing Google search engines for the loads of information kept at their disposal. Obviously, the current system setup doesn't cut it out. Kinda shame that a big conglomerate such as TM failed to even serve and deliver basic information such as this.

Try Maxis or DiGi customer service, and repeat the above inquires and you'll know what I mean. I did. It just took me less than 2minutes to get the information ;)

Those morons from DBKL

These are huge 6 foot trash bins collected from the public DBKL flat nearby. Each flat has six of these. Multiply that with 3 flats, you'll get 18 of these 6 foot trash bins. Yes, it's very messy and foul. The foul air can reach as far as one kilometer in diameter. Worst when it's a hot day when these trash (and whatever in it) starts to rot and decompose rapidly. Even worst when there is gusty wind or just slow breeze, the reach of these foul air gets wider and further. If you're living 50metres away, you're probably immune to these bad stench. Frankly, I don't know how people who lived 50metres away could bear it. It's like living in an unclean, heavily used yet not flushed toilet. Yes, it could be that bad. I think it was like that for many years.

Many years gone past. Some planning authorities had an idea to build a storage building to house these foul stench trash bins. It's probably cost not more than 100k to build such building. Moreover, it can be use for many years. It was a good idea, but they're probably forgot why they built it. Instead of using the trash storage building, the trash are still kept in open air. Just like many years ago.

There are even three schools and a surau nearby. All within a stone's throw away. There are about 204 houses in each flat with at least 4 flats nearby this rubbish dump. Imagine having these 816 households to bear the foul stench of these rotting rubbish.

In this part of the city, rubbish and wastage does go together. When I said wastage, I am referring to the people that are sleeping on their jobs while others have to bear and receive the brunt of their rubbish work.

Narrow road, narrow land and the bird brains

As you can see with these pictures, it is a one-way very very narrow road with cars parked by the both sideways. This 700m road is the gateway for at least 5 public DBKL flats. Each of these flats has approximately 204 household. Therefore 5 flats would have 1020 households. With minimum 3 members in the family, that would make 3060 people. That explains why there are cars parked at both sides of the road. Supposed one in every three households has a vehicle , that would make 304 vehicles that would have passed this single gateway to 5 public DBKL flats. Already, this place is a parking nightmare for these tenants.

To further add to this math-complexity, there are three existing schools within this 5 public DBKL flats. There are two primary and one secondary schools. You'll need to pass this single gateway very narrow one-way road to these schools and flats. Yes, it is hell of a traffic nightmare!!

And what did you know, as you drive along this very very very narrow road....

The authorities planned to build a new school in addition to existing three others, all within the proximity of 200meters away!!

The red patch is the space which the authorities are going to build this new school. Just look how narrow is the road is. Once you passed this bend, you'll be seeing one of the existing primary school ahead (see below). The secondary school is on the left, next to the primary school. The view of this school hidden by the block of the flat. There is also a primary school on the left, situated on the ground floor of the flat.

After the second bend, there are two schools (primary & secondary) which mentioned earlier (see below).

Sometimes I do find that these planning authorities comes with pea-brain size that beyond my comprehension. Don't you?

EPF office at 9.45am

I was having some problems with EPF where rightful two months contributions amount was not debited to my account accordingly. The issue when unresolved for one year. Calls after calls that went on for few months to the EPF customer service do not seems to solve my problem nor there was any accurate update on the status of my complaint. Hence I decided to drop in to EPF headquarters at Jalan Raja Chulan. As usual, after being directed from point A to point F in 45minutes, I ended up with the right department. I stepped in the office, and this was what I saw.
It astound me! The office was almost empty. I can't help it but to take these two pictures!

It was almost 10am, on a mid-weekday and there was not even any public holidays in that week! I waited for someone to attend to me and there was, after another a 10minutes wait. I explained my dilemma to this person, and she went off to do some checking on her PC. Another 10minutes's wait, she came back and told me that she can't resolve my problem and ask me to call back!! I told her that I have called numerous times and it has been a year already, and I'll like to know what are the next action to be taken and who is in charge of these problems. What she told me next, I really felt like I want strangle that person. She told me she was new!!! She has the guts to tell me she was new but not to try asking for help from her colleagues!! Helooo, I am sure Alexander Graham Bell invented telephone a century ago. I think that was not really a good excuse to say, "I am new and now please bugger off" because I think she's running away from responsibility.

Anyway... my conclusive point upon his horrendous experience was... now I know why EPF is paying a freaking low 5.8% dividends for year 2007 !!! Mind you, LTAT is paying 16% dividend for the same period. That's way more doubled of what EPF is paying! A bunch of people in EPF should just get fired and put the LTAT guys at EPF. Honestly, we're talking about our retirement funds!

In shambles

Today marked the fourth day after election polls results were announced.

1) There is still no word on who-is-who and who-is-where on the cabinet line-up.
2) Perlis, Terengganu, Johor and Pahang Mentri Besars are yet to be appointed.
3) Perak, Selangor and Kelantan Mentri Besars are yet to be appointed.

Kinda pressing, isn't it?

Meanwhile, I am wondering if this is all the new opposition from Selangor can do?

After 'hiding' for last three days when the state of Selangor fell on to PKR-DAP-PAS loose coalition, Khir Toyo said this, "The first BN offensive will be to register all 62-year-olds in Selangor in the government hospitals as the new government had promised that those above the said age in the state will receive free healthcare." And then he further added, "Secondly, we will register all children to childcare centres in Selangor as the new government had promised to provide free childcare services."

You know when you see someone who has nothing to offer but bankrupt of ideas. And these were the words that came from a man who 'developed' the state of Selangor. What a sad man he is. Robin Z is no longer around to back him up anymore.

Perhaps he should learn from Koh Tsu Koon, who has been a praiseworthy gentlemen in handling over of power and even offered to give advise to the new government.

Losing the plot

The Sin Chew Daily reported the following:

"MCA president Ong Ka Ting is believed to have decided to give up his ministerial position but will remain as party president.

The front-page report, which quoted sources, said Ong would not offer himself as a minister because he wanted to take responsibility for the party's disastrous outing in Saturday's 12th General Election.

Instead, he will propose to the prime minister that his brother and party secretary-general Ong Ka Chuan to take over the Housing his Local Government Ministry."

If you are watching a movie, you'll definitely sees through this plot. Yes, he has a personal agenda. It is very disgusting for him to 'act honorable' but yet promotes nepotism within the party's hierarchy. I think MCA is due to doom.

An urban voter, TM Lee, 28, remarked "Ong has accused DAP’s Lim Kit Siang of being power crazy. But by holding on to MCA presidency now, he is viewed as lacking integrity and credibility himself."

A MCA Penang insider reveals, “When he promised the party a new era in 2003 following his first 100 days as president, we did not know it would be the start of the Ong dynasty,"

More so, when Tun Dr Mahathir has this to say, "As long as you have that kind of arrangement where family takes precedence over cabinet, over the government itself, I think the people would want to go against them."

So please do the right thing and heed from the old man's wisdom. And please, stop acting like you're some angel coz you're not!

One-race based government?

"I do not want to form a government that is made up of only one race," Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said of the indications that the Chinese and Indian parties in the Barisan Nasional coalition could be hit on Saturday.

Well, it could be true. Isn't the government civil service is already made up under 'one race'? When this PM shout out that he will be PM for all Malaysians, does this mean it is conditional? Where does this PM really stand out from all the statements he has made?

If/When the government turns out to be one-race, would it be this one-race biggie's interest when irrelevant minorities parties disengaged with the current coaliation and form a new coalition with another alternative-one-race-based party? If so, then what makes one-race biggie's relevant and attractive in this multi-ethic society?

What goes around, comes around.

Awas! Bahan Letupan!

I was driving along MRR2 near Sri Gombak to work and I saw this military truck next to me. It didn't take me long to look at what's on the signage. I sat up straight and noticed that there's no military police escort or any military sort. This ain't any of your normal festive fireworks, I'm sure!

Surely it is not a prank. Is this how military explosives are transported these days?

MAF14

Spotted this car while I was looking for mine in a shopping mall car park. It's so cool, so I thought might as well take some snaps. Check out the number plate!

Don't play play.

Between tak apa attitude and possibly death

It was scary. The steels were jerking out from the "safety extension" of the lorry, of course, unless you are blind and dumb.

There are speed bumps ahead. A simple bump could just unlock the steels and set them loose.
It's just nasty. In the name of "susah cari makan" and rapid development, there is really no consideration to the safety of other drivers these days.

Deadly smokey trail

Smokey bus good for your health?

More smoke screen from hell, now you can't really see the bus, can you?

The deadly smoke trail is a courtesy from JPJ Puspakom HQ in Setapak where the bus had just left that premise.

How to play?

Well, a well known bank recently (and ongoing as of this writing) organised a online contest for all their customers. All you need to open an account in any deposit accounts. The prize? Up to RM3k on weekly basis. Despite the high standard of living in KL, RM3k is still a lot of money. So much money until someone resorted to hacking the bank's application and he/she succeeded!

This may not be the bank's core transactional system, but it's still a scary thought though. Still wanna deposit your monies with them?

Lady janitor in men's toilet

Eight out of ten times I walk in to a men's toilet, especially in any shopping mall, I find a lady janitor cleaning... in the men's toilet while men 'openly' weeing away. It is weird and I do feel awkward when relieving myself. I'm sure she feels the same. Anyway, do you think it is ethically right for a lady to be in a men's toilet while men relieves themselves? If it is not okay, then why are they there?

Where's the bus stop?

Both of the above pictures show the same place but of different direction. It's not a great picture but it's telling though. Are you able to find the bus stop? What else did you noticed which is so glaring unless you're blind? The whole 5foot walkway has been taken over by illegal hawkers. Kids from school across the street and people who lived there are forced to walk on the road to get to another place. Legal and rent-paying shop lots are forced to compete with these illegal booths for customers. No, they're not your fly-by-night setups. They have stable electrical lines and good running water. From where? I don't know. They have been there for like 5 years or so. Towards efficient 2020? More like going backwards like third-world country. And this, all thanks to DBKL.
